Finally, Issue #4 of Fictitious Force will emerge. It turns out it's not a good idea to move in the middle of a production schedule. Nor does changing jobs help.

Whine, whinge, moan, complain.

Anyway, we're psyched that the neglected hobby will get a moment in the sun. To those that still read the static, printed word, there are some stories I'm proud to be associated with here. Strong writing, interesting characters and stories, made me think.

Someday, there will even be enough time to whip the website into proper shape.

If only Kye waits a while before starting to walk :-)

I sent this letter today. You should send something similar. Before it's too late:

Chairperson Garland R. Hunt

Dear Chairperson Hunt:

You are the last hope, not for Troy Davis but for the people of Georgia, and of America.

If you don’t act to grant clemency, the State of Georgia will execute a man who is probably innocent on July 17th. If you don’t act to stop this execution from going forward, every Georgia resident, including several of my relatives, will share culpability for murdering Mr. Davis.

Sir, I beg you to grant clemency. If Troy Davis is put to death, after a conviction based wholly on witness testimony – when almost all of the witnesses later recanted their testimony as police-coerced – it will shake the world’s faith in the concept of justice in America. As well it ought.

First do no harm. Don’t let Georgia suffer the consequences of killing an innocent man. Don’t let the State of Georgia become a state where human life is so little valued that an innocent man can be killed by the state. The precept of reasonable doubt sets a very high bar for conviction, much less execution. That bar has not nearly been cleared in this case.

Execution can’t be undone. Please don’t let it be done to Troy Davis.

I, and all Americans, are counting on your good judgment to prevent a potential tragedy. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Laden
